Stephen Burrow appointed to Ethics Commission

Supreme Court Chief Justice Mike Randolph has appointed attorney Stephen W. Burrow of Pascagoula to the Mississippi Ethics Commission.

Chief Justice Randolph signed the appointment order on Oct. 7. The four-year term will begin on Nov. 15. Burrow will take the Ethics Commission seat currently held by attorney Brenda T. Redfern of Jackson, whose term ends Nov. 14.

Burrow, a lifelong resident of Jackson County, has practiced law since 1993. Burrow Law Firm focuses on business law, business development, commercial transactions, business and commercial litigation and medical malpractice defense.

Burrow is licensed to practice law in Mississippi and Alabama. He is admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, the Fifth and Eleventh Circuit Courts of Appeals, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Alabama, both federal district courts in Mississippi, and Alabama and Mississippi state courts.

He has served as a Pascagoula City Councilman and Mayor Pro Tem since 2017. From 2007-2016, he served as Pascagoula Municipal Court Judge Pro Tem. The Secretary of State appointed him to three study committees which made recommendations for legislative revisions to business regulations. From 2008-2009, Burrow served as a member of the LLC/Partnership Committee, charged by Mississippi’s Secretary of State with updating and substantially revising the state’s statutory regime for limited liability companies and partnerships. In May 2010, the Secretary of State appointed Burrow as vice-chairman for the Corporation Laws Study Group. The Secretary of State appointed Burrow in 2013 to the Business Organizations Study Group.

Burrow has helped found, lead or serve in many local community organizations. He coached the mock trial team for Resurrection Catholic High School 2013 - 2017. He was a youth baseball umpire, soccer coach and manager 2002 - 2016.. He has been the radio voice of Resurrection Catholic High School football, baseball and soccer since 2009.

Burrow earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service in 1988, where he received a Certificate in German Public and International Affairs with distinction. In 1993, he graduated from Tulane University School of Law, earning both a Juris Doctor Degree and a Certificate in European Legal Practice. While at Tulane, he served as president of the Law School Student Body, was a senior member of the Tulane Journal of International and Comparative Law, and was a member of the Tulane Inns of Court. He was an extern clerk for U.S. District Judge Martin L. C. Feldman of the Eastern District of Louisiana.
